The Raw Materials series, presented in this context, is an evolutionary project without a pre-established linear structure and that Damien Chamcirkan has been leading since the beginning of his career. Rather, it presents itself as a topological atlas, where photography becomes a probe that documents the surrounding world.
In the center there are urban memories, or as so-called vacant lots, places where a whole series of events or activated different social functions exist and which at the moment are suspended between life and death .
These marginal spaces, outside the productive circuit of our cities, are in fact spaces in potential, spaces of multiple possibilities, where in the invisibility and far from the mainstream daily, micro events take place: temporary or temporary occupations, activities Leisure time; Events that enrich the buried history of human societies.
What is visible in these images is what remains of a furtive passage, another accumulated residue.
What is the role of these spaces outside of power and control? What is the relationship with utopia, the other possible?
The photographic time blocks in a fixed image the residual memories released from the rapid race of a society in perpetual change.
