Bowery Mission NY
I was on an assignment for a European TV channel when I first visited the Bowery Mission in New York. During my shoot I also took a tour of the dormitories (The mission has three of them). What stroked me first when I went along the corridors was the amount of plush animals laying on the beds or whatever spare room was available to each individual. It was like I was walking down the hall of a children’s dormitory in a vacation’s camp or orphanage. I have seen both. I decided to have a closer look at the objects disposed around each bed and found out in my journey that all of them were telling a story about their owners. They might seam like just banal object to a viewer at the first glimpse but are certainly consequential to each individual I met and became close to at the mission, so here are some of these stories.
