Celebration of the various legends associated with Holi reassure the people of the power of the truth as the moral of all these legends is the ultimate victory of good over evil. Besides, holi is celebrated at a time of the year when the fields are in full bloom and people are expecting a good harvest. This gives a people a good reason to rejoice, make merry and submerge themselves in the spirit of Holi.
I chose Mathura to see the Holi feast because it is Krishna's birthplace and so besides being a convenient place on my itinerary, it also had a logical meaning. Holi's party begins the previous day, said Chhoti Holi and the celebration of Holika Dahan. During the day people go to the temples and on the street and throw colored powder. The party takes on a religious and playful character.
In the evening at every corner of the streets are made lumber of lumber topped with images of Holika with Prashad. Once the darkness has come down, tradition wants the devotees to put the demoness into a fire, symbolically saving the baby and letting the demon burn in a fire show.
The next day, the true Holi feast day begins with the color festival. Everyone frees themselves from their own inhibition and ventures to the irreverent party. If you want to participate, be ready for everything: colored powder, colored water sprinkled with guns, waterbombs from above, so much, sometimes, sometimes too much.
