Medellin was the most dangerous city in the world in the 1990s. The war between drug cartels run by Pablo Escobar, in Medellin, and the brothers Rodriguez Orejuela, in Cali, transformed the life of the population of the city into an inferno. After Escobar's death, in 1993, the reality of the city began to change. Urbanization has progressed and Medellin has become one of the most innovative cities in the world with the two projects presented in this essay: the cable of Santo Domingo and the stairs of the Commune 13. With these works, also reached the communities the peace, the education and the certainty of a normal life. Today, Medellin presents crime rates up to 90% smaller than in the 1990s and is an example of overcoming. In April 2014, the city hosted the World Urban Forum, UN Habitat.
