Visiting a new town. Its crowded streets at daytime soon wear me out. Head back to the hostel and have a nap. The sun is almost down. Take a shower, clean my Leica M5 Summarit’s lens and I slip three or four rolls of Tmax into my pocket. I start feeling thirsty and hungry so I look for a diner. One with locals suitｓ me just fine. Find it. A few customers, probably laborers, are already drunk. Later, some white collar workers also join in. Boozing together in the darkness of night peels off our masks. Doesn’t matter if we are black, white, red, brown, purple and yellow. We talk like we’ve known each other for a long time. Best way to know this town. I nearly forget I ’m carrying my camera and nobody seems to be bothered about it anyway.but I left photography after all. Step out of the diner and into the streets again. The time spent at the diner makes me feel like I’m part of this town. I eventually get into a bar. Made the right choice, it has some vinyls. Order some strong booze. Tonight’s encounters bring back memories of the coal miners at their families back in my hometown who were nice to me when I was a boy. a time i like. and now is the time i got start to use my Leica.
