SHOT is a photography documentary about survivors of shootings. The goal is to photograph 100 survivors nationwide from a variety of ethnic, political and socio-economic backgrounds who constitute the vast mosaic of Americans affected by wanton shootings.
Participants come from across the United States and were injured in both high and low profile cases. Anyone who has been shot for any reason may become part of the endeavor. When possible, the portraits are taken at the location of the shooting. This adds another dimension to the project as the location for many of the events are banal places which are visited by people on a daily basis without a thought such as a movie theatre or restaurant or they are places that are integral parts of our lives: homes, schools, shopping centers etc.
All photographs are taken to show the indomitable spirit of renewal in the lives of the survivors, many of who are now activists in the cause to end gun violence.
