Neighbors project
Habitats / Inhabitants
This series reflects on interdependence, interconnection, otherness.
We are interconnected, linked by our ways of living, by means of communication, transport, our habitats, our way of consuming, of eating. We are all close or more distant neighbors. We can speak here of a global village. This photographic series suggests that what is done on one end of the planet impacts the rest of the world.
This series reminds us of shared human experiences, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or any other identifier. Moment of introspection, which carries our reflection on our common future, and that of our planet. What do we want for ourselves, and of course for future generations? The question arises, questions arise. It is obvious that this project takes on a particular resonance in the context of the health crisis that has hit the world.
In this photographic endeavor, Yannick Ribeaut was surely inspired by the work of many photographers, such as the collective work "The Family of Man", or even Jack London who described his photos as human documents "... If it is really possible to read on a human face not the story of a single man but that of humanity, it is told here ”. Shared human experiences, both individual and universal identity.
The city, the one that makes us all neighbors. Neighbors project, returns us to this daily posture shared today by more than half of the world population grouped in urban areas.
“I feel concerned, about the world and the challenges to come, both on a human and an environmental level. I was in Shanghai during the World Expo, whose theme was "Better City, Better Life". It’s not this quest, this universality, deep within us that shapes our life expectancy. ”

You have to take a portrait photo near a window and a photo taken from it. Then the portrait and the photo of the exterior (view from the window) will be placed opposite thanks to the diptych technique.
