Presqu'ile is a lovely french word for "peninsula". In French, literally, the word presqu'ile means "almost an island".
As the starting point to a long term body of work about insularity and life on islands, Presqu'Ile is a personal trip into a region full of memories, a peninsula in north west France. The pictures tackle everything familiar to me, trying to keep the naïve fascination and the delight I still experience when, working as a travel photographer, I'm documenting what is exotic to me. The trip aims to ask what gives this place a strong feeling of absence and isolation.
Some pictures from the Familiar and Presqu'ile series were exhibited in Paris Photo 2013 as winner of the SFR Jeunes Talents Award 2013.
