Cuba spent his life freeing himself, or at least, trying. Cuba had many "friends"; pretenders, claimants, egotists and covetous. Cuba is poor, but it is always poor. Cuba lives and fights, but also gets used to it. It is accustomed to fact that powers do not come and go, the powers remain and their people too, because although they leave, they remain. Cuba is for many that man, and the other, and then the other, and could even be like a state of mind, an eternal transition with more questions than answers. But Cuba is much more. Virgilio Piñera saw it as that circumstance; "The damn circumstance of water everywhere."
