This series of photographs explores the possibility of the world of spirit touching our reality, the sense of our being separated from other realms. setting sail, going on a journey. The release of the soul.
When my mother died my father remembered he had a dream about a ship waiting for her, a ship of the dead. Strangely another family member had the same dream.
Using a simple process I have embedded faces of my family and friends into fabric. The results were then photographed in an outdoor environment and manipulated to create a feeling of coming through, something piercing the veil.
I imagine these would be large prints, with the faces being life size, up to a metre high, giclee prints on cotton rag (museo max).
