Minnesota's Boreal Forest - a Labor of Love

Minnesota’s northeastern corner, known as the Arrowhead Region, is dominated by one ecosystem - the boreal forest. Covering 3.9 million acres, including over 445,000 acres of water, the Arrowhead Region is covered by dense forests, freckled with lakes, and veined by rivers and streams. The entire region is defined by water and the interconnectedness it provides. The Arrowhead Region is a living, breathing entity feeding water into Lake Superior, Lake Winnipeg, and Hudson Bay. It is also a major hotspot for observing the effects of climate change, where the impacts are resonating through its core.  This portfolio is the culmination of 10 years of research, exploration and photographic development. This small selection of images is just a sample of the natural history available in this unique ecosystem, but is a compilation of some of the most intimate moments I've had with nature in some of the most unique circumstances I could've imagined.
