Julianita and Raquel: Two Panamanian Matriarchs

This series follows tow women's lives, Julianita and Raquel, as they serve as the heads of their household in two very different regions of Panama. Julianita lives in the tourist, fishing town of Pedasí, Her husband Ben is recently decease and her grandson David lives with her. Although both Julianita and Ben spend most of their time home, they often venture to the town square at night, which is the center of social life in the small town. Raquel lives on a small coffee farm in Cotito with her husband Nicolas and her son Antonio. Her family are the only people that live on the farm full-time. Her daily tasks include helping with the farms finances along with tending to the animals. Although both women live vastly different lives, they are connected through their matriarchal position. They lead their families admirably with a true sense of strength and inner peace. The contentment in their quiet lives is beautiful
