Houses are where my life has mostly happened these past years; they became my nest. But what if you have to stay in the nest? Aren’t you in a cage then?
‘FLASHING NESTS’ is a non voyeuristic testimony. I want to express that you don’t have to show blood to convey pain. It can be poetic, tender, while being very ‘raw’ and suggestive.
I use vibrant colors; birds are flashing after all. They are also a symbol of freedom. Photography is my way to fly and fight confinement. Similarly, the choice of analogue and its grain conveys my relationship to time which is a slow, tender process towards healing. Besides my images are very lively: a teddy bear, plants, windows… Hope is still there despite illness. It is also important to me to be straightforward by using flash, narrow point of views, corners or closed doors.
