Photography and printmaking allow an artist to create images that go beyond the limits of what eyes can see. My images are a special blend of photography and graphic art, in which I have created a unique style to showcase otherwise overlooked details of Los Angeles architecture.
People live in patterns, both physically and psychologically. My photographs, like the beat of a favorite song, create a universal rhythm that quickly becomes familiar. I have lived with OCD for my entire life, an influence that is easily recognizable in my work. For me, symmetry is meditative and makes me feel whole.
I’ve always tried to avoid emotion in photography, but at one point I realized that my images are completely emotional. Human faces are symmetrical, and what I’m really doing here is creating abstract faces with powerful expressions, and I think of each image as a self-portrait.
