Mundane in Thailand
The chosen photographs depict mundane moments in urban Thailand. By bringing together these unthreatening moments I want the viewer to feel a sense of belonging, while still experiencing the inherently random aesthetic present. I want to emphasize this dichotomy because it reflects the push and pull we often feel as travellers: the desire to blend in, belong, and the urge to experience all that should be experienced. Here, belonging is alluded to by a sense of familiarity. The familiarity felt in the rush of a crowd, the exhaustion of work, fallen leaves. I want the viewer to find comfort in the familiar, while experiencing the unfamiliar. Familiarity in some form is easily found. Truly belonging isn't as easy to achieve.
