Homes To Venues: Capturing The Essence Of The DIY Music Community
The subject of this work is an in-depth look into the DIY, or underground, music scene in Chicago. This scene exists as a larger community of artists, hosts, and curators that work together to create house shows. These are events consisting of the hosts opening up and transforming their homes into a makeshift venue. Being a part of this community for four years, on both the hosting and performing sides, has given me the opportunity to create this work within the community itself, which exists as an evocative account of being in these spaces at these events.
