The Quechua people

The pictures has been taken in the rural community of Peruvian origin people, in the highland of Andes mountains. With a population around 2.5 million, the Quechua people of South American are the largest of any indigenous peoples in the Americas today. Today, as in past times, the Quechuas are subjected to persecution. In recent years the ethnic persecution has been a serious political issue: in 1980’s in peruvian civil war at least 25 000 Queachuas were killed. Up to the present times Queachuas continues to be victims of a serious discrimination.
