The Horn of Africa is entering its third year of devastating drought with an estimated 15 million people across Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia facing severe hunger or crisis. Drought has caused crops to fail and cattle to die while the lack of clean water is increasing the threat of cholera and other diseases.
8.5 million people in Ethiopia alone are currently reliant on food aid and many have been forced to relocate to IDP camps for food and water. Pastoralists have been worst hit and many have lost all of their livestock and camels which are their livelihoods. Aid organisations are working with local governments but the scale of the crisis means budgets are becoming exhausted.
