Who am I - really?

In times of the selfie and biometric pictures, what about the portrait, the one which reveals something of our personality? Again and again there were and still are photographers who have enriched the genre of portrait photography with new aspects and, above all, enriched them with their very own visual language. What could be seen of me if I were portrayed by such photographers? Would their visual language dominate the portrait over its real task to reveal something about me? To reflect on this, I made self-portraits inspired by the visual style of those portrait photographers, who fascinate me most. The resulting images are startling: Is that me? Do the images show facets of me for which I am blindfolded or are they artistic projections of the respective photographers?
