As an architectural photographer, I am fascinated by the built environment. With so much written on the great cathedrals of Europe, I thought it would be interesting to look at the cathedrals of the United States.
Ecclesiastical architecture combines the elements of politics, history, finance, great design and the impeccable artistry of the craftsman. These structures are, by definition, an attempt to bring together in one place the earthly and the divine, and they represent the astonishing evolution of architectural design and engineering.
