Parish Churches of East Anglia

This body of work considers the quietness and sense of timelessness that is characteristic of parish churches in Norfolk and Suffolk. East Anglia has strong historical and cultural associations with the Netherlands, and is reminiscent of seventeenth-century Dutch painting in the qualities of stillness, and in the use of light to create depth and atmosphere. It conveys a perception of deep contemplation, reflecting the prayer of generations of churchgoers in these spaces now undisturbed by human presence.
