Presentation: 'REPETITION'
Images by John Crosley
This is a newly revealed 'Presentation' on the theme of 'Repetition' -- a theme that recurs regularly in my photo compositions.
Repetition may come in various forms, singly or in combination.
Please view the following photos, if you wish, and try to identify 'repetition' of one kind of another in each photo.
Some images may have only one form of repetition; others may have multiple repetitions, possibly from several categories of one of my most favored composition devices..
Not all repetitions need be alike, so if you have discovered obvious repetition in an image there might be one more occurrences of that device in an image., possibly in another category of repetition.
Some repetitions may not be 'exact' but may be somewhat alike.
The term 'analogous' might be appropriate rather than an exact repetition.
In one image, repeated parallel lines of steps may be the 'repeating device;' In another image, it may be repeating subjects or their parts; In one more, the another image, may have a repeating theme such as plural 'S' or 'C' curves, and so on.
Some images may be rich in repetition, especially those featuring urban architecture.
Repetition in photos can often help the photographer create pleasing images, in other images repetition may be intentionally broken or interrupted to create visual 'tension' in the image.
Repetition is a very strong tool in the photographer's composition toolkit
If you have located one 'repeating' device, remember, there may be others in the same image.
Please have fun identifying why each of the following images was placed in this presentation.
