The concept of Natya Shastra is an ancient one which I have tried to bring out in the modern world. Much like the dance forms themselves I have held on to the mimetic qualities of photography to illuminate each of the dance forms. The intention for this project is purely to understand and cherish how diversely unique a nation as vast as India can be. My vision for this project is to make the viewers feel like they are in front of an antique piece but still feels present with today’s day and age. This unique juxtaposition is my creative homage to a culture and nation as vast as India.
Lastly, Indian dance forms are embedded with storytelling and taking that essence in mind I have not just taken photos of dancers but integrated it with Hindu mythology’s finest love story , Radha and Krishna. Capturing a dance sequence with a narrative not only adds to the overall aesthetic but gives a subtle character to each of the subjects partaking in this body of work. India is a vibrant land and I aim at showing that vibrance to the world. This is India as witnessed by time and history.
