My photographic narrative attempts to chronicle the lives of the people who keep the Traditional Mas alive through their dedication and struggle. I am moved by them and their experiences – experiences that the traditional mas survives. I investigate the spaces, the people and the traditions that come from those experiences.
South East Port of Spain finds itself at a crossroads of a painful past and an uncertain future - a vanishing part of our heritage that gives way to a new and pluralistic genealogy.
It is these crossroads that inspires me to build bodies of work that I believe helps us define who we are, where we came from and what shapes our society. I wish to put a face to what our history has denied.
