What's it like to be at ground zero during the final weeks of an historic presidential race? In October/November, 2016 I headed down to Florida to photograph the Clinton campaign as it barnstormed throughout the mercurial swing state, dredging for every last vote. Cell phones and Twitter notwithstanding, what I found is the ageless stuff of modern political warfare: a stampeding juggernaut of unbridled emotion and sky-high aspiration, propelled by the restless electric current that ricochets between candidate and crowd. With a bird's eye on some of the most consequential figures of the 21st century, here is a window into both the quiet intimacy and intense communion of that peculiar connection.
