Papua Niugini : The Land of a thousand tribes

My portraits are of indivudial from Papua New Guinea. A country that has more than 800 languages and a thousand tribes. Every year, the people celebrate their Independance day by displaying their provincial cultures through what they call 'singsing' (a celebration or feast of singing, dancing and food) . They all come together in their respective provincial 'bilas' (traditional attire) and celebrate as one country, one people, one family. It is a reminder and a celebration of UNITY.
