New York Pigeon Fanciers
Project info

There are over 1000 breeds of pigeons throughout the world. Commonly disregarded as a pest by city dwellers these birds have enamored a small group of enthusiasts who breed, exhibit, and love them wholeheartedly. This body of work examines themes of beauty, belonging, and community through both the lens of an animal that is generally disregarded and disrespected and that of the breeders whose identities become entwined, and mirrored, with the birds they care for. This selection of images comes from The 61st Annual Long Island Classic Open Show hosted by the Nassau Suffolk Pigeon Fanciers Club.
