looking at something that does not exist as if it did
I photograph hand made paper collages, two- dimensional pieces of paper: as simple as that. Of course the nature of the light I use is important, the depth of field and focusing play a great deal, I also use different angles and shutter speeds. All in all it is very simple. It took me years to come to terms with the simplicity of my image making, but now I understand that part of their quality comes from that simplicity. I think it was makes them feel true and genuine (whatever that might mean...).
This simplicity however does deprive them from a more complex and sophisticated qualities but that does not comes in the making. It comes I believe from my influences and understanding my process and remaining true to it.
