Art Desks by E. Brady Robinson features photographs of the desks and working spaces of artists, curators, art dealers, critics and tastemakers throughout the East Coast. This project began in Washington, DC in 2011 and explores the idea of desk as portrait. In shooting this work, the artist came face to face with the complexities, literal and social, of navigating the art world. The images are insightful, often surprising and richly detailed, the project as a whole exhibits the "six degrees of separation" inherent to the art world, one shoot leading to another, often at the suggestion of her subject.
Robinson’s subjects include: art collector Mera Rubell from the Rubell Family Art Collection, David Ward, Senior Historian from the National Portrait Gallery, Anna Walker-Skillman, Owner for Jackson Fine Art, artist William Christenberry, Larissa Leclair from the Indie Photobook Library among others.
Addison/Ripley Fine Art in Washington, DC will feature a solo exhibition of Art Desks by E. Brady Robinson during FotoWeekDC 2014.
