Flattened space, disrupted views, interjecting reflections, surface tensions and textures. These elements are used to compound both space and time within the two-dimensional plane of a photograph. Represented in this series are moments when the camera's view is disrupted by the photographer herself, whether by reflection or shadow. This imperfect moment frozen in time.
Focusing on a personal narrative of anxiety and insecurity, this latest work delves deep creating metaphorical representations. Reflections represent what once was. On the other side of the glass lays the future. Both disrupted by elements on the surface, the present moment. Worry, concern, and nervousness over past, present, future; seeing through, forward, and backward all at once. Self-portraits standing proud without the common social media façade. Gazing toward the viewer, toward the camera’s lens, subdued by the surface the image reflects off of.
