Due to originating in an urban area, they are merely situated in another theatre. The savannah village becomes a street facade.
These are images of groups of people, each consisting of separately captured portaits and local scenery meticulously mounted in huge works of art, that faithfully represent reality and daily life. But they become much more than just documentary. The personal involvement with the subjects is key to create an affective and testimonial bond with the viewer. A depiction of reality that, without using modern photographic techniques, was impossible in the past.
