About 20 families (between 120 and 150 people) live in Surklarhat, a small area of Barabkunda, Chittagong. These people were forced to migrate from the island Swandip, because of a river erosion (which hit the island in…year?). They were forced into rice processing since they did not own land. “Until now this business make us happy” they said.
In short time however, a new road will be built in this government area. What will the rice workers do then? Where they will go? How they will pass their life? They themselves don’t know. They want to continue living in this area they now call their home, and engage in the rice business.
