Females and children in Myanmar (Burma) paint their faces with “Tanaka” lotion, which is made from a certain tree called Tanaka. They use it as a sunblock every morning. “Tanaka” turns white color when dry and it looks like a makeup foundation. For comparison adult Males don’t use the “Tanaka”.
Children’s faces with “Tanaka” are very unique, some of them have their mother painted, and the others do it by themselves. The designs are varied, each fancy and hand-scrawled. Some of them might oversleep and be upset. Anyway we can see arts on all of their faces and see the liveliness of their expression.
But during playing pleasingly and studying diligently in the school, their art comes off gradually. When going out of school their faces get just like begrimed.
