In the Lake Chad region, thousands of internally displaced people and refugees flee the threat of Boko Haram. Before the rains was shot throughout the northwest of Lake Chad at the beginning of the rainy season. The tribes were threatened with not only by the oncoming downpours but also the news of Boko Haram infiltration in the area.

These images are part of a larger series titled 'So.lil.o.quy' done in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières. Over a period of 18 months, Alec Von Bargen traveled to 23 missions in 10 countries to document and be inspired by the conflicts and the work MSF is doing to bring aid.
