Mexican Story

Mrs. Lidija is 46 years old and comes from Oaxaca. She did not finish school, and ran away from her home town to Mexico City at just 15 years old. She was a maid in Mr. Solorzano's family home. Mr. Solorzano is a 78-years old man from the rich family of Mexican diplomat. He studied at one of the best universities in Argentina and lived in Brazil, Europe and travelled the world. He met his wife, Mrs. Lidija, in the residential house, where he used to live with his first wife and kids. They have known each other for over a quarter century, have an adult daughter of 26 years old, but married less than a year ago. Before that Mr. Solorzano's children were against their marriage. When he got sick, they made a «compromise» and agreed. Mexican society is quite divided. The places you go to, the books you read, your circle of friends - highly depends on social class, birthplace and appearance. Mrs. Lidija & Mr. Solorzano are the first couple I photographed for the «Taboo» series, devoted to couples with different backgrounds.
