Fire Island
Fire Island is a remnant of a glacial terminal moraine which had moved sediments from the northwest of Long Island. The various minerals transported by the glacial activity left a potpourri of color sands from the variety of rocks and minerals the glaciers abraded on the way to Long Island Sound.
