The Gracia distrcit is a very peculiar neighborhood within the Barcelona metropolis and although subject to the vicissitudes of urban speculation, it still retains that idiosyncrasy of a periurban population endowed with a grid of short streets and about 6 meters long. wide that once a year they become an event-place in which people take public space for their Best Fest. During a week the carss are expelled from their usual space while the streets are adorned to become the real hall of the houses, something that would have to be the usual but that the municipal authorities consent once a year for this manifestation of the citizen power and, although it is shocking, in this kind of street carnival the residents hardly sleep. Surely they reserve it for when the streets recover their monotonous normality
In this eagerness to go beyond, to conquer the street and turn it into the space for the citizen, imagination has no limits and each new street, a new world has been built as a standard for the feeling of its inhabitants who have to live with these holidays with a whole crowd of such magnitude that scarcely leaves space for peace. In this frenzy has been made this series of spheroramas in which distorting the distance and to the beat of the music and the rainbow palette, quite possibly Walter Benjamin would have to rethink his quote about the role of photography about the popular knowledge of a painting , sculpture or architecture.
