Still Closer
Project info

The photographs in this series were informed by a long period of hearing loss and are a reflection of life viewed through the minutia of my domestic surroundings. This time of quiet changed my view of the world and had a profound effect on both my physical and psychological outlook. Practically it gave me the opportunity to observe undisturbed, more importantly these photographs enabled me to express an emotional response to my situation.

Upon entering my home, insulated from the outside world, I became absorbed in the ambiguity and fragility of my immediate surroundings. Shot in landscape I focused on the mundane, employing the close-up to emphasise a sense of separation from the outside world and to fetishise the subject through the act of photography.
