Over 100 years ago, the major debate in America was health care. Now, like then, the human face was lost in the quagmire of political debate. ‘Portrait Of A City Hospital’ puts aside this faceless debate to focus on the real people who are in need of real care.
To increase the grittiness of the subject I decided to push the film to its maximum and use an acutance developer to bring out the grain - it also served well in making some of the photographs in extreme lighting conditions.
