My daughter RaeLyn grew up alongside a rubber plant, which resided quietly in a corner of our living room. In this series I reimagine the shared lives of my daughter and the rubber plant through a visual tale that veers between the worlds of reality and fantasy. I use shifting colors to reveal shadows normally hidden from view; silhouettes heighten the perception of outline and form to create new shapes and new meanings. In the words of the poet Denise Levertov, "I like to find / what's not found at once / but lies within / something of another nature / in repose / distinct..."
