Work & Production. thinking_forward Extension of the permanent exhibition „at work“ at Technisches Museum Wien.
Photographic installation of production environments
The TMW‘s next exhibition project with the title “Work & Production.thinking forward” displays an artistic installation of the photographer Iosif Kiraly. His creative work features the archiving of public spaces, buildings and production environments. How do they transfer social realities and changes, how do they structure our perception? The artist does not document places, he deconstructs and reconstructs them out of single images in order to make references and development perceptable to the visitor’s eye. He offers a different perspective than an architectural photographer who rather searches for documentary images. Iosif Kiraly’s work connects buildings and places with the people that use them. He sets a reference system from single points of view with specific artistic means.
The aim of his artistic work is to show the constant change of working environments and production spaces since the first industrial revolution and to make it understandable. Today, the focus is on progressive networking and automation of production which will change the future of the working world. We talk about the 4th industrial revolution, new professions have arisen, others change due to new challenges. How does the professional environment reflect these developments and are there different working environments that coexist? The exhibition integrates, with the help of an artistic interpretation, the change of the working life with its different speed, aspects and references in order to show that change has always been an integrated part in the working world.
The photo installation frames the permanent exhibition area for about 40m and offers an emotional entrance to visitors.
