I'm from North Eastern Pennsylvania and grew up around coal breakers and coal mines. I never believed in using this source of fuel, truthfully, I think it destroys the land and life sources surrounding coal mines. There are such high levels of arsenic left behind, as well as asbestos and other chemicals that cause harm. This series, I started at The Huber Coal Breaker in Ashley, PA. It doesn't exist now but the remains and toxins do. I will continue this series at different locations throughout PA. I still have many visions for other locations that incorporate coal mining. In this series there will be daylight photographs and long exposures at night, some where I may paint with fire.
