"Sometimes
the absence of a thing
makes you so much aware of it.
Especially if it is something
we take for granted.
Like windows..."
(Wim Wenders)
This project has been shot in slowly developing suburb in the South of Italy where a phenomenon has acted on landscape with the growth, in the middle of abandoned country fields, of spontaneous constructions built in breach of town planning. These buildings are founded in small properties occupying them wholly and, for some reason, the result is the lack of windows on the façades bordering other properties.
The empty spaces between buildings appear neat and somehow well kept. It seems like if someone designed these spontaneous architectures and urban space according to a misterious concept.
