Portraits de Châteaux d'eau (French water towers)
Since 2008 I have been photographing water towers throughout France. This, still expanding, series now consists of almost three hundred photographs showing the wide diversity of different architectural solutions for the same purpose: Functional water towers. Some designs are very basic, others show a fascinating diversity of shapes, created by French architects, designers and constructors.
I consider these photographs as “Portraits of water towers”.
Portraits of a wide variety of “personalities”, overlooking the French landscapes, towns and villages. Portraits with backgrounds in which the surroundings, the season, the weather and the French “couleur locale” play an important role as well.
