About Robert Ellis

Robert Ellis uses the medium of photography to explore the notion of ‘home’. Working within communities, his images rely on inherent or local knowledge to inform a sense of place. He is an Irish photographer who completed his MFA in Photography in the University of Ulster in Belfast (2011).
In 2018 he was one of 25 artists shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize and showcased in the National Gallery of Ireland. Recent solo exhibitions include Rua Red in Dublin (2019) the Mathis Gallery in the University of Wisconsin, USA (2018) and Belfast Exposed Gallery (2017). His works are held in several private collections including the Northern Ireland Arts Council. In 2014 he was invited as an emerging European photographer to participate in Plat(t)form at the Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland.
