About Sally Mason

I am a British photographer who specialises in abstract landscapes and seascapes.

I spend much of my time walking the British countryside and coast – photographing nature’s incredible diversity – from wide open landscapes to little noticed details.

Conveying the emotion of a scene as I experience it, is more important than a literal representation. I use a range of techniques including intentional camera movement (ICM) to express ideas and feelings. My interest is, in a sense, the ‘act’ of taking a picture. The photograph captures my physical and emotional interaction with the surroundings, more than just simply recording what I see.

I find my intuition is captivated and somehow liberated when in the landscape. I see movement and flow in everything and ICM enables me to evoke the subtle, but constant motion I find there.
