About Sinawi Medine

Born in 1983 in Eritrea, I left my country for political reasons and crossed several countries such as Sudan and Libya during my exile journey, before finally settling in Nice-France, in 2009.
I started photography as self-taught artist while working in various studios in Africa but quickly moved towards photoreport. I also assisted photographers to boost my career in Europe.
Newly established as an Author/Photographer in 2015, my main work is on refugee’s situation toward Europe. My work aims to show their ardent courage to live and defy common wisdom, to document about people like me who had become refugees.
My first exhibition was presented during the off of “Les rencontre d’Arles” (International Photographers Convention) in 2012 for the photoreport “Au bout de l’exil”.
Working for ngo’s or medias, my pictures have been published in the press. In 2017 I had been nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass. Since 2017 I joined Studio Hans Lucas
