Most of my work revolves around the medium of photography itself rather than the objects depicted. I am fascinated with how people perceive their representations and how photography shapes memory and influences our culture. The Red Portraits is new work that involves my recent interests in discovering unique characteristics out of old media. The tactile sensations and the resistance to the easy answers of new technology are especially appealing to me. I received my B.A. in studio art from Wesleyan University in 1987 and my M.F.A. from Cornell University in 2004. I currently teach photography at Grand Valley State University in MIchigan.
