Stephen Cook started his career as a commercial photographer in 1978 after studying photography and art at San Diego City college and San Diego State. He spent 14 years creating images for commercial and publishing needs in San Diego working with clients including Harcort, Brace, Jonavich; Quality Inns, and advertising agencies. Stephen also developed his photographic printing skills achieving qualification as an Ilford Black & White Master Printer.
Then the computer revolution started, and Stephen discovered abilities in designing and implementing database and software systems. This lead to a 25 year career as a database administrator (DBA) and solutions architect. Through out his career change he never lost his love for photography and creating images of the world he traveled.
In 2008 Stephen retired early to devote his time to church missions and photography. He has traveled to the Ukraine, Maui, Cuba, China, Belgium and Peru preaching and teaching about Jesus Christ and creating stunning images.
Converting to digital photography in 2005 Stephen has continued his education and experience creating images, processing them to coax the vision and passion into the images just as he did film and emulsion based printing. Stephen takes on the entire process, conception of the image, capturing the image in the camera, processing the image, and printing the image with state of the art printing.
