Thomas Rowell was raised in a log cabin up a dirt road in the mountains of North Carolina. He studied directing in the theater and completed the William R. Kenan Directing fellowship at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts before getting his first camera. He has since lived and travelled in Ireland, Kenya and India as a photographer and filmmaker with a particular focus on wildlife conservation.
